Philip Crump
Philip is an accomplished lawyer and governance expert with over 25 vears of legal experience in New Zealand and the United Kinqdom specialising in leveraged finance, private equity and debt restructuring. He practiced at Russell McVeagh in Auckland before becoming a Partner at Kirkland & Ellis in their London office, where he was recognised as a leading lawyer by Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.
Philip holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Māori Studies and a law degree from the University of Auckland (1997) where he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Auckland University Law Review in 1996. Philip is a member of the Waitangi Tribunal, a board member of NZ On Air, a trustee of Foundation North and a member of the NZME Editorial Advisory Board.
(Hon.) Harry Duynhoven QSO
Harry Duynhoven brings decades of distinguished public service and deep expertise in energy policy to our Board. A long-serving Member of Parliament for New Plymouth, he served as Associate Minister of Energy and Minister for Transport Safety in the New Zealand Government. With roots in Taranaki — New Zealand's key oil and gas region.
Harry has championed energy initiatives such as seismic campaigns, infrastructure development, and sustainable resource management throughout his career.
As former Mayor of New Plymouth and a respected community leader, he combines strong governance experience with a practical understanding of the sector's economic and regional importance. He provides Sterna with invaluable strategic insight to guide our research and innovation efforts in the Energy sector.
Dr Michael Macnaughtan
Michael is Sterna’s Founding Director, with a more than 10-year background in academic geoscience research, and private contracting. Highly focused on delivering support for New Zealand’s energy sector, Michael brings a strong technical expertise on New Zealand’s basins, and a network of academic and PRO-based contacts.
